"I've looked at a lot of different software. The biggest thing with Uptick was versatility."

Josh Miller
Redline Fire Solutions
Redline Fire Solutions came from the merger of two Denver metro companies: Josh Miller's Mountain View Fire Safety, and Eric and Christal Larned's Colorado Fire Services. Both were already on Uptick. We heard how Uptick is helping the new, combined business reach new heights.
"The biggest thing we're trying to do is reset the standard in the industry," says Owner Josh Miller. "I feel that in our industry, especially in this market, the quality of work's gotten pretty watered down. The partnerships, like with Uptick, are very important. We're looking for somebody who can continue to grow with us, and can help us get to that next level."
Josh has found that customer expectations are increasing these days too, and Uptick is helping the team to meet these. "Definitely keeping up with the times, as far as digital reporting, not handing over carbon copy inspection reports and service orders," says Josh. "At the end of the day, we want to minimize what we're filing away, and the customer wants to do the same thing. They have a portal through Uptick, where they can access their reports, what schedules they have coming up, invoices, all those things. It definitely helps everybody out."
"With anything, change is hard, especially for some people," says Josh. So, when they were first onboarding with Uptick, "there were some frustrations here and there. But nothing major. The support that we were able to get from customer service, when we had questions, goes a long way."
Reflecting on those earlier days at Mountain View, Josh explains that, before Uptick, the company's processes were "a little messy, or redundant at times. It definitely left room for error, with too many processes involved, with just one person taking care of them. We didn't really have a great way to track recurring revenue, recurring inspections, or deficiencies that needed quoting."
Uptick put deficiencies front and center, so much so that the company brought on a dedicated deficiency manager. Their sole focus is quoting deficiencies and following up with customers. Once a quote is approved, they get parts ordered and the job ready to schedule, working closely with the scheduling team.
"I don't think we realized how much we needed that person in that position," says Josh. "It's not that Uptick created more work, but we started finding that it was a lot easier for us to start capturing deficiencies. Those were in our faces a whole lot more. We started looking at how many deficiencies we had that needed to get quoted, and that led toward us bringing that person on."
"The biggest thing with Uptick was the versatility for me," Josh adds. "Over the years, I've looked at a lot of different software out there on the market. A lot of them were just lacking in one direction or another. They were really good in the office, but then fell short in the field, or vice versa."
Key Takeaway
Redline uses Uptick to drive growth and deliver the best quality of service they can for their customers, as it aims to reset the standards in the industry.
